Quilts
so
full of memories, past, present, and future.
The
Art
My name is Darlene DeVries and I have been quilting for the past 24 years. My very first quilt was cut, sewn and quilted all by hand. I have come along way since then. My first longarm quilt machine was purchased in 1999 and I updated to a newer and better longarm in 2001. The Proto Stitch Wizard is a wonderful longarm full service hand guided quilt machine. The history, as well as the future of the art of quilt making is near and dear to my heart. I have learned so much from quiltmakers of the past and the present. I hope to pass along the knowledge that I have learned to others. With each quilt I do I bring my talents, creativity and experience to make your quilt a true 'Quilted Treasure'
My
Goal
My
goal is for the quilting to the enhance your work
not to overwhelm it. I
want to give you creative assistance in selecting the design or style that will blend with
your project. I try to work very closely with the quilt maker so you will have a
quilt that will last for generations to come.
Your
goal
You
may be looking for award winning quilt detail. I can help. You may want
to just 'get the thing done!' I can do this too. You might need a simple,
inexpensive finish. You might have a special heirloom that
screams for exquisite detail. I am here to help with your goals, both design and
budget. Rest assured that my studio is a smokefree/pet free zone. This is my
business and I love it!
My
Community
I
am part of the rural community of Wheatfield, Indiana. My husband Dave and I
farm here and have raised our family here. I wirte for the local newspaper, as
well as a teach quilting throughout the year. Our local group of women is very
active in Quilts For Wounded Soldier's. This is a national effort among
various quilting groups to provide handmade quilts of comfort and love to soldiers who
have been hurt . We want to honor those who have sacrificed so much for all of
us as a nation.
